These are some of the less-recent occurrences in the Syracuse University Mathematics Department since the advent of the new website.
- This week the MGO Colloquium returns! Friday, October 19, at 2:15, come see the first of this year's colloquia. Keep checking the colloquium portion of the site for the latest one! Hope to see you all there!
- The Annual MGO Picnic was a success! It was met with good weather, and fair attendance, held Saturday, September 8, from 11am to 6pm, at the Falls Shelter in Pratt's Falls County Park.
- Congratulations to all those who have passed the latest round of exams in August 2007.
- Opening and Keynote Speakers and dates for this year's MGO conference are confirmed! Join us March 28-29 for talks from Noam Elkies of Harvard University and Joseph Silverman of Brown University!
- Syracuse University's thesis guidelines are now available.
- On Friday, 13 April 2007, Allen Pelley successfully defended his PhD thesis "Representations of a Valued Quiver, the Lattice of Admissible Sequences, and the Weyl Group of a Kac-Moody Algebra." Congratulations Allen!
- The 33rd Annual New York State Regional Graduate Mathematics Conference was held at SU on March 30 and 31. Thank you to Carl Pomerance (Dartmouth) and Steve Hofmann (U Missouri-Columbia) for making it a great success.
- Congratulations to those who have now passed some or all of their qualifying exams in January 2007, including: Tony Perkins, Tom Bleier, Kos Diveris

- Congratulations! The following have passed some or all of their preliminary exams in August 2006:
Thomas Bleier, Kosmas Diveris, Yao Lu, Dan Maycock, Alan Murphy, John Pirrone and Ashley Prater.
Chris Russey, Megan Holben, Tony Perkins, and Eric Wortman.
They passed their preliminary exams at the end of January 2006.
Christina Niemerg, Adam McCaffery, and Derek Gustafson.
These three passed their qualifying exams in January 2006 and are now able to begin research towards a dissertation. Good luck!

- Congratulations to Dave Dickerson! Dave was notified on 30 September that he has passed his qualifying examination in the Math Ed. program.
- Congratulations Derek Gustafson on the successful completion of his language exam.
- The 2005 Fall Picnic at Oneida Shores was a success! We had beautiful weather and good food, all day, and there was a good showing by graduate students and faculty.
